 Brahmotsavam:  **

Brahmotsavam turned out to be a disappointment. The major credit of this should go to the director who despite having every thing at his disposal, failed to translate the good point in to a good film. Except for few scenes mainly around the interval and climax, the film is boring especially with those never ending lengthy dialogues. Lets see how it fares at the box office!

Sathyaraj has a joint family of four brothers and a brother-in-law (Rao Ramesh) running their family business, a paint factory in Vijayawada. Rao Ramesh plans to wed his daughter (Pranitha) with Sathyaraj's son (Mahesh Babu). But then he discovers that he is love with Kasi Annapurna (Kajal Aggarwal), an NRI. He seethes in anger and confronts with Sathyaraj and then cracks begin to develop in the beautiful family. Rest of the story is how Mahesh heals the broken hearts and gets his family back on track.

Mahesh Babu has some charm in himself which makes him the star attraction even though he is standing betweem a huge cast. His role is some what resembling that of SVSC role and he walks through it effortlessly. Kajal Aggarwal plays a role of an NRI and is mainly in the first half. Samantha is superb and her chemistry with Mahesh is excellent. Pranitha is wasted in a insignificant role. Rao Ramesh gets a very important and walks through it effortless. Probably genes can not go wrong. Sathyaraj is impressive as a father and family head. Jayasudha and Revathi are also good as well. Vennela Kishore's comedy in the second half is a relief. Rest of the characters are okay.

The first half of the film is decent with the scenes around the interval bang working out well. However things go very slow and predictable in the second half. The major problem is Srikanth Addala's predictable story. Even though the point of searching for family roots is good, Addala faltered badly in execution. There are several loopholes as well how Kajal suddenly disappears and how Samantha suddenly appears out of no where. Even though the film is just 156 minutes, we feel like it is never ending. Lengthy dialogues are inserted at several places just for the sake of having them which tests the patience of the audience.

Coming to the other technicians, Rathnavelu is an asset. Every frame is oozing beauty and colourfulness. Particularly the songs are brilliant visually. Mickey J.Meyer had done a good job with the music album. Gopu Sundar's back ground score worked out well. Editing should have been a lot better. Production Values are superb. Senior Art director Thota Tharani is just exemplary.

Finally, Brahmotsavam turned out to be a disappointment. The major credit of this should go to the director who despite having every thing at his disposal, failed to translate the good point in to a good film. Except for few scenes mainly around the interval and climax, the film is boring especially with those never ending lengthy dialogues. Lets see how it fares at the box office!
